Samara is an illustrator currently based in Brighton. She has just graduated from Falmouth University and is busy scribbling away in her home studio. Samara has always had a love of illustrating characters and stories for a young audience, and is currently working on a children's information book. She loves to collect old ephemera, second hand furniture and children's books, alongside many other things she probably doesn't really need!

Using a mix of gouache paint, coloured pencils, and a bit of digital manipulation, I wanted to create a fun piece which will hopefully appeal to both adults and children. I tried to make it quite decorative, with lots of little details here and there, as well as incorporating a bit of typography to give the image more of a focal point.

Haydn Symons is an Illustrator & Designer from Hampshire. Working within many fields of illustration and design, Haydn has worked for clients within editorial, publication, and advertising, and loves coming up with unique ideas and concepts within every illustration. Incorporating both traditional and contemporary elements to form eye-catching illustrations, Haydn uses gouache to form most of his paintings, which is then edited in Photoshop. Within his studio you can see Haydn painting, sketching, and constantly practising his craft.

At the very start of every project, I begin by producing lots of sketches within my sketchbook, and write down all of my ideas for the artwork. Once I’m happy with the idea and composition of the piece, which is drawn out within small thumbnails, I then set about creating the artwork. Painting on water colour paper, 'A Christmas Evening' was produced with gouache, which was then taken into Photoshop for editing.

Based in Manchester, Claire Stamper is a freelance illustrator who graduated from the University of Derby in 2013. After finishing University, she discovered her love for character design and has since been creating a wide variety of animal based characters. With work varying from a book based on Japanese folklore, to animated stickers used in online chat applications, Claire’s work has been used for a variety of purposes and clients. She is always looking for new and fun things that can be used to liven up her characters! Claire has a wide variety of interests and hobbies such as Japanese culture, board games, reading and of course, drawing.

Using vector graphics and limited colours, this vibrant image features iconic Christmas decoration such as tree ornaments, candy canes and mistletoe.

Paul Donnison is a freelance illustrator currently working from his home studio in Canterbury, Kent. He graduated with First Class Honours in BA Visual Communication at The University of Kent. His visual style is influenced by his love of jazz, European visual culture and the work of early to mid twentieth century artists and designers like; Hervé Morvan, Ib Antoni, Saul Bass and Paul Rand. Starting from a pencil drawn sketch, Paul’s colourful, quirky images are realized through a combination of hand cut papers and digital media. This method of working gives his images a fresh contemporary look that evokes a retro hand made aesthetic. Paul finds inspiration walking the streets of London and Paris, finding interesting galleries, bookshops and a nice café.

Melly Em Clark is an illustrator and designer based in Lincoln. An illustration graduate, her work is inspired by mid century fashion and children's illustration, and uses her passion for colour and print to reflect her love of fun and exuberant imagery. A fan of traditional media, she specialises in fashion illustration and stationery design.

I love to work in a variety of media and paints, and explore different aspects of pattern and colour. I wanted to create an image that was fun, vibrant and festive. I thought it would be interesting to consider what our traditional Father Christmas might look like in today's popular male fashions!

Gemma is an Illustrator based in Shropshire. She recently graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Illustration. With an enthusiasm for bold geometric shapes and vibrant colours, she loves creating quirky and humorous characters. Gemma works predominantly digitally, but is also interested in traditional print techniques such as screen-printing and linocut. Other than drawing, her favourite things are cats and cheesecake.

My idea behind ‘Merry Mayhem’ was Santa and family having a well-earned Christmas dinner together, celebrating another job well done. The overall tone of the image is warm and playful, something to make people smile and remember the reasons why Christmas is the best time of year: fun, friends, family and enough delicious food to make you pop. I imagined the elves as mischievous little children, seeing the dinner table as a playground. Keeping in the spirit of festive fun, the calendar numbers are hidden throughout the image; I hope you’ll enjoy finding them as much as I enjoyed placing them!

We then realised that actually...you should choose the Charity that should benefit from you sharing your e-Calendar. The process is simple. When you purchase a Charity Advent e-Calendar, you let us know which Charity you would like to support this Christmas! On the bottom of your e-Calendar, we'll then place a little bit about that Charity in addition to a Donate button. Your friends and family will then be able to see which Charity you are supporting, and will gently be encouraged to spare a few pounds to the cause that is closest to your heart.
